Angry Sister

Dear Eliza,

This is for you.
love,
Kelsey

It also happens to be for whoever wants to look. The reason this is called angry sister is because one of the many things Eliza yelled at me about during my stay in Utah was that I didn't update my blog nearly enough. I am working on it. This updates everything before my short stint in p-town. I will soon post about that so no need to yell Eliza.

Well here it is Matt. He has kept asking me if I have done anything with this video. He really wanted me to post it on facebook or really anywhere on the internet, which is strange cause he never goes on facebook. Anyways, he is proud, which he should be cause it is pretty awesome.
Because I couldn't let Matt have all the glory first there is a picture of me sitting in the snow.

He even did that on a bad ankle.

So we finally got Matt a bike so we could enjoy the bike trail together. Unfortunately we had to put part of the bike together ourselves, which of course means it didn't come back from the first bike ride in one piece. However, we have now tightened up the parts (the pedal and handlebars-Turns out they are essential) and we are good to go. This is Matt trying to fix his pedal on the trail- not so successful.

This is the American river that is like a block away from our place. It is so pretty and has a bike trail going along it all through Sacramento.

My parents came to town to watch BYU play in SF and Santa Clara. We met up with them for the Santa Clara game. It was a lot of fun.

Then my parents tagged along back to Sacramento, where they got the luxurious guest bedroom on a air mattress. This is me and my dad in old town Folsom.

Dying easter eggs

So this isn't normally how my ankle looks. I twisted it badly playing soccer and it is very swollen in this picture. It is hard to tell in this picture but it is also colored very strangely.

It stopped raining and we were able to grill ourselves a few steaks.

Anyways we are doing great and it was so fun to see everyone in Utah last week. I will do a post about that soon and hopefully about some projects I have recently finished/ am still working on. I have to finish first and then I can blog about them. Since I may procrastinate both those things who knows if anyone will every see them.

Winter In Sacramento (Now that its over)

Things are going great. Matt is loving his job and I am tutoring part time. It is mostly really fun, but I tell you some of those 7 year old girls give me some attitude. The other day a girl tripped and fell into a book shelf. I helped her up, but she was really embarrassed so she started telling the other girls that I pushed her. There was quite a bit of drama, but luckily I got her to stop saying that. Yeah its pretty funny sometimes.
Okay so a lot of these photos are not actually from Sacramento, which you might have guessed since it doesn't snow in Sacramento. We had a great winter.

These first pictures are from when we went to Aspen with people from Matt's work. It was so much fun!

On a sleigh ride to dinner.

Matt next to the giant horses that pulled us to the restaurant.

Dinner was amazing and it was great to warm up after that ride.

The wonderful hot tub after skiing. It felt so good.

At the bottom of the mountain.

Matt and I just playing a little basketball at the park on a Saturday morning. It is only about a block away from our place. It is really fun.

Matt's birthday lunch! He requested cheesecake. I think it worked out well. We had a fun lunch then went to Dave and Busters. Then we had a delicious dinner at P.F. Changs.

Birthday breakfast in bed. Quite the sleepy face- sorry Matt.

I have been meaning to post this forever, but for some reason it has been saved as a draft and not published. I will put up a new post really soon. A much more updated one. This week. Promise. I have a lot more funny stories and such.

Trip to Utah

We had such a fun time visiting our families' over Christmas break. Here is just a little bit of what we did. I had a lot of pictures so I tried to shorten the post a little.

Enjoying some time in the snow. We miss the snow. I won't lie it is nice that I hardly ever have to wear a coat and it gets into the 60's, but it doesn't feel like winter.

Some fun time with the Ringers. Bowling at Fat Catz, New Years breakfast, sledding, etc....

Also some quality time with the Phillips. Hiking in the snow, and some Wii time.

We also got to go to Matt's good friend Jake's wedding. It was a fun get together. All the old high school friends sure enjoyed it.

I have a new post coming soon about Matt's birthday and our amazing trip to Aspen. We are having a good time here in Sacramento even though we do miss our families and friends in Utah. Sacramento is definitely feeling like home now though.

Sincerely,

Kelsey

The Christmas Season

Well the holiday season was pretty busy. I love December! I always feel like there is something going on. Here is a little update of our December in Sacramento. More to come later on our trip to Utah.

We got asked to be the narrators for our ward Christmas party. It was pretty fun. The funnest part was the nativity the primary did. It was so cute.

For the first time ever we went and cut down our own tree. It was super fun. We went to a place called Davis Ranch. You can cut down whatever tree you want for the same price. It was awesome.

Here is the end product. Decorated and everything.
Matt enjoying some of the candy from our advent calendar

Here we are all fancied up to go to Matt's work party. It was pretty fun, but we were the only ones from our table that didn't get a raffle prize. That was slightly disappointing.

We had a family night with some friends and made gingerbread houses. This is the back of Matt's house. He decided to try and create a nativity out of gummy bears. This isn't actually quite the finished product, but I think he did a pretty good job. I really like the angels. Also you can't really tell, but that yellow square candy has a star engraved in it.

Here are the fronts of our house creations

The holiday season is always so busy, but it is so fun. I left for Utah on the 21st and Matt came on the 22nd. It was such a full trip and it was so fun to see our families. More on that later.

SacTown Update

I really need to update my blog more, but I feel like I don't do that much to update on. Matt works a lot and I just started tutoring so that's about it. Here are some of the things that have happened over the past few months.

Eliza came to visit while my parents were out of town. We had a fun sisters weekend. This is Eliza at Old Town Sacramento.

A few more pictures of us at Old Town.

We also went on a bike ride. The American River is only a fourth a mile away form our house so there are a lot of pretty places like this bridge close.

Halloween Pumpkin Carving

Pilot and Stewardess

Matt getting his face painted. How manly.

Something weird we weren't used to is that our pumpkins got moldy in like one day. I don't know why it did that here, but look at this. It was so gross. It was completely full of mold.

We had a fun date where we had envelopes for each time of the day. There were three envelopes and they each had some different activity.

Overall everything is going well here. We are coming back to Utah for Christmas and I am so excited. I fly back in one week. Things are great.

Pinteresting

So ever since I have been in the situation known as "a lot of free time", I have been spending a considerable amount of time on Pinterest(a wonderful website I am sure many of you are familiar with). Because of that Matt know responds to most things I say by saying "how Pinteresting". Or really anything that uses that word. So this blog post is pinteresting, since I have been trying to pinterest my life.

At a garage sale I got four matching chairs for $5 each. Great deal considering they are really sturdy chairs. As some of you may be aware, we sold our table before leaving Utah. We got a new table here, but have been without chairs. Therefore these chairs solved our problem, but first I wanted to make them cuter.

Original Chair

After some good old sanding

Now the paint job. After I painted it I also got a high gloss spray wood sealer finish (or something like that), anyways they look nice. I am trying to find two other chairs to go on the ends of the table and then I will have two chairs of each color. The fourth chair I have now I just finished painting yellow.

Also because of pinerest I have decided to try out some new recipes. Its really fun and I mostly only make desserts. Brown sugar cookies.

This is actually the first Sunday dinner I have had to cook for just Matt and I. Due to the fact that we lived by family until now we have never really had to do our own Sunday Dinner. I made a roast and everything.

Raspberry lemon cheese cake. Also Pinteresting

Now on to some pinterest home, with the help of my mom. She came out for the weekend after Hansen left and we had an extreme home make over, that wasn't that extreme, but was fun. We got an ikea shelf to create a make-shift mantle.

Love Ikea storage

I also bought this cute little table off craigslist. I want to paint it too, but I haven't gotten around to it. Also my mom is nervous about me painting it since it looks nice now.

We also finally got some curtain tie back things so that I can have some more light in the family room. There is no overhead light, so that is a little weird.

Well that about sums up my pinteresting life. I am getting a little bored having nothing to do, but I am liking that I have time to cook and stuff. Matt may be a little disappointed when I actually get a job and I go back to my old ways of not cooking so much.

Sincerely,

Kelsey Phillips (its now official. Got my CA Drivers License with it on and everything)
